Fraser Valley wine tour

June is the perfect month to start wandering around town as a tourist.  No need to take vacation from work, there's tonnes of stuff to do on a weekend.

On a sunny Sunday, doing a self drive wine tour of Langley was a good option :)

Based on some web research, it's not hard to find the wineries within Metro Vancouver, it's just how many to go to!  It's cheaper than paying for an official Wine Tour / shuttle bus or private car.  Just make sure not to drink and drive.

Our first stop was Backyard Vineyards.  They even had live music today which was a nice touch.  Lots of outdoor seating, covered and uncovered if you like the direct sun.  Even grassy spots to lie down.  I found it to have a big indoor tasting bar and seating area outside.

It's $4 for 4 tastings, per person and we decided to try 4 different ones each, which meant trying 8 different wines!  Very helpful staff to guide you through the tasting. The samples were generous, ~ 1.5 oz compared to the other wineries.  They waive the tasting per bottle of wine that you buy.

Onwards to Chaberton Estate Winery.  This one has a restaurant Bacchus Bistro also if you want to eat a meal at the same time.  Tasting fee is $5 per person for 4 wines, waived if you buy a bottle of wine.

The tasting area is one long bar.  Lots of seating outside, picnic bench style.  This one has more gifts in their shop than the others.

Next stop is Township 7.  I recognize the name but found the tasting room a bit smaller than the others because it was narrow in the front but opens to a larger back room.  It had a wall of wine, and a small outdoor seating area.

Tasting fee is $5 per person.  Of course the one we liked was a Club Exclusive and we didn't want to join the Club, so we couldn't buy it.  I guess all the wineries would love for you to become members and I'm sure it has perks, but we are not wine lushes, so... on to the next winery!

Vista D'Oro was a quaint little winery.  It had a private driveway and small tasting room.

They also make preserves here and they were quite tasty!

Tasting fee is $5 per person and is not waived if you buy wine.

We saw a winery sign on 0 Ave on our way to the last winery on our list, and found yet another winery!

Glass House Winery was very nice, suitable for special occasion functions.  Tasting fees vary.

Lots of outdoor space to roam around.

Our last stop is Blackwood Lane Winery.  It has a small tasting bar and lots of gift items.  Very small parking lot.  Tastings range from $5 - 10 per person.

In total, we went to 6 wineries and it took about 4 hours, it definitely made for a fun filled Sunday afternoon!  I highly recommend it.
